Lighting Design and Technical Theater

Every show is different. And every theater space has its problems and limitations. Theater is an extremely collaborative art, and it's important that the technical staff understand all aspects of the process, as well as be fluent in the roles and jobs the rest of the staff has, and be willing to help a hand as needed. A team player who enjoys what they do and who works to expand the possibilities of a space and make every production better than the last is vital to optimizing the production values of every show.

Additionally, most groups often employ either students or volunteers to fill out the staff, to both keep costs reasonable, but also to train the next generation. A person who loves to teach, who can instill their passion in others, who can lead and walk with people to bring them quickly up to speed and make them feel like they are contributing and important massively aids in the positive environment of a group. Doing a play or musical comes with a lot of stress options, so a person who can take the pressure and roll with problems and quickly identify solutions is important, and takes the load off of everyone, making the whole culture a more calm and peaceful one. And a person who is willing to listen, to allow others to have ideas and contribute and be given due credit is a rarity, and one which makes people assisting feel like they are bringing something else to the table.

Finally, having a person that knows it's not all about them, and that some shows, the best compliment that you can get as a designer or technical production team member is to get no compliment at all, because you helped people mentally get lost in a world so much that they didn't even notice it. That is an important dynamic as well.

At Eclectic Services & Production, we have years of experience working in difficult spaces, working tightly with other designers to create a shared vision, and for training up others and making them feel valuable and useful. We want to help you create your show to be the best it possibly can be, and optimize your production values for every show, production, or recital.
